Rock of Inscriptions
The Rock of Inscriptions has been a signpost for thousands
of years. Featuring messages in Nabatean, Pharaonic Egyptian,
Greek, Roman and Hebrew it gave travelers the information
they needed to find their way through the valleys of the Southern
Sinai. Before roads existed in this mountainous region people
walked the valleys. Wadi Ghazala (the valley of Gazelles)
ends just south of Ein Khudra oasis and from here one needs
to climb a steep path, at the crest of which lies the Rock
of Inscriptions. Today a paved highway runs just south of
the rock offering travelers an opportunity to see the rock
plus look down over Wadi Ghazala and view Ein Khudra.
